Test the whole purchase, not just the payment form.
A checkout that opens does not establish that an order can be completed. Follow a product from choosing a variant to the information you use to prepare the parcel.
Use a protected test environment and your payment provider’s sandbox. Disable real fulfilment and unwanted customer messages for the test, so it cannot cause an unintended order, charge or campaign.
A good purchase becomes a clear order.
Your customer chooses a product and variant and completes the purchase. You then want to know what was ordered and what to do with it. Daymerce is the workspace for that next step.
Follow a real buying route in your test environment.
Choose a product, variant and quantity, go through delivery options and use your payment provider’s sandbox. Test the options your customers actually use.
Open the order in Daymerce.
Find the related purchase. Check its products, quantities and transmitted order details. Assess the handover from the front of your shop to your workspace.
Continue into the practical work.
Move to preparation or packing. Do the right products and details stay with the task? That is what makes a checkout test complete for you as an owner.
Test your customer’s purchase and the work it creates for you.
Test the journeys your customers actually use
Start with one ordinary purchase, then cover the differences that matter to your business. Write the expected result first: the intended item, total, delivery choice and payment outcome.
| Journey | What to check |
|---|---|
| Normal purchase | Item, quantity, total and confirmation agree. |
| Product with options | The chosen size, colour or other variation reaches the order. |
| Different delivery address | The expected delivery method and cost appear. |
| Offer or free-delivery threshold | The benefit changes correctly when the basket changes. |
| Unsuccessful test payment | The customer receives a useful message and can recover. |
Include your main mobile and desktop journeys, guest and account purchases where relevant, and each payment method you intend to offer. One successful card test cannot establish that every other method works.
Follow the item, the offer and the delivery choice
- Open the product from your shop, choose its options and add it to the basket.
- Check the name, quantity, variation, price and any extras such as gift wrapping or a message.
- Change the quantity or offer condition and check the revised total.
- Enter an address for a region you serve and compare the delivery choices with your intended setup.
For standard zone-based shipping, WooCommerce uses the first zone matching the delivery address. A broad zone above a more specific one can produce unexpected options. Check the matched zone, its methods and their conditions against the shipping-zone documentation.
Use the payment provider’s documented test journey
Confirm that both the gateway connection and the payment attempt are in test mode. Use the documented test values for the method you are checking, including success, decline or authentication scenarios where supported. Keep real payment details out of these tests.
For example, the official Stripe extension has its own test-mode instructions. Other gateways have different setup and test requirements. Follow yours, then match the test transaction in the provider’s test dashboard to the order in WooCommerce.
Check what reaches you after checkout
Review the confirmation page, order details and expected test notification. Make sure the variation, delivery choice and customer instructions arrive where the person fulfilling the order needs them.
Interpret the status for the payment method used. An order record alone does not establish a successful payment: Pending payment is unpaid, while On hold can mean confirmation is still due. Use the order notes, provider record and WooCommerce order-status guidance together.
Know what you tested and repeat it after a change.
Choose familiar routes: a new customer on mobile, another delivery region and a declined payment. Compare the expected choices, total and resulting order each time.
When checkout, payment or delivery settings change, repeat the same route. Include the order and processing in Daymerce, keeping the test connected to how the shop is actually used.
