Why are your products not showing on Google?

Work out where the product is missing before you change anything. Catalogue visibility, indexing and Shopping each have a different starting point.

By Daymerce · 5 min read · Updated

Daymerce helps you improve the product information and content behind your visibility. Work with product context, linked content and a search preview in the same environment. Check whether Google has indexed a page in Search Console, then pick up the relevant work in Daymerce.

How Daymerce helps with this

Where did you expect to see it?

First check that a signed-out visitor can open the product URL. If it is available, choose between Google indexing, search visits and Shopping.

Is the page in Google’s index?

Use URL Inspection for this product URL. A missing search result alone does not tell you whether it is indexed.

Indexed, but getting few search visits?

Review the page’s impressions, clicks and queries in Search Console before choosing a content improvement.

Missing from Shopping or free listings?

Check the item’s status and reported issues in Merchant Center. Search indexing and product-listing eligibility are separate checks.

Choose one product and one question

Take the full URL of a specific product. Write down where you expected to see it: your own shop, an ordinary Google result, or a Shopping listing. Keep using that same example so every check answers the same question.

From a search question to content that helps your customer.

Someone looking for a tee needs more than a product name. Fit, fabric, use and a combination with other products can help them choose. In Daymerce, prepare that explanation and its presentation together.

  1. Find the information that is missing.

Is there a technical indexing problem, or does the visitor still lack a clear reason to choose the product? Solve the right problem first.

  2. Write the explanation with your products beside it.

Prepare an article or page in Daymerce with its related products. The content stays connected to what you actually sell.

  3. Review how you present it.

The content editor keeps the URL name, search description and preview together. Check the copy and product facts, publish through your configured route, then review what changes in Google.

Work on clearer content with a purpose. Product knowledge and presentation belong to the same job.

First, can a visitor reach the product?

Open the product URL while signed out. Check that it shows the intended item, with no login requirement, unexpected redirect or error.

In WooCommerce, publication, access and catalogue visibility are separate settings. A hidden catalogue product can still have an accessible individual page. Review the product editor’s visibility settings before treating a shop-listing problem as a Google problem.

If the page itself is unavailable, give your site specialist the URL and observed behaviour. Fix that specific issue before changing search settings.

Find out whether Google has indexed this URL

Open your shop’s Search Console property and enter the complete product URL in URL Inspection. Read the indexed result, the reported reason for exclusion if present, and Google’s selected canonical URL.

The indexed result describes stored information. The live test checks the page now, but a passing live test does not guarantee indexing or search appearance. Google’s URL Inspection guidance explains the distinction.

A Google search using the site operator is only a quick observation. Missing from that search does not prove a URL is unindexed; Google recommends URL Inspection for the individual check. See its site-operator explanation.

Follow the reported reason, not a generic SEO checklist

  • Access problem: investigate the reported response, login requirement or redirect with the person managing your site.
  • Noindex: confirm whether the instruction is intentional. It can come from page markup or a response header. Robots.txt controls crawling differently; a crawler needs access to read a noindex instruction. Keep deliberate exclusions for staging and private content. See Google’s noindex documentation.
  • Different canonical: compare the intended page with Google’s selected version. Check that your canonical preference, internal links and sitemap agree. A canonical is a signal, not an instruction Google must follow. Use the canonical guidance before making a targeted correction.

For a few corrected URLs, an authorised Search Console user can request indexing. Repeated requests do not make crawling faster, and inclusion is not guaranteed. Follow the recrawl instructions and monitor the result.

Indexed, but hardly any visits? Check the search context

Use Search Console’s Search performance report, filtered to the product page. Review impressions, clicks and queries over a meaningful period. Keep country and device context consistent when comparing results. A search you perform yourself varies with circumstances such as location and device. The performance report gives a wider view.

Use those questions to review the page. Does someone understand what the product is, who it suits, which option to choose and what they need to know before buying? Make a useful, specific improvement and record its date. Do not assume a later traffic change has only one cause.

For Shopping listings, inspect the product in Merchant Center

Check the affected item and account in Merchant Center. Its product issues explain what needs attention; free-listing eligibility does not guarantee display. Use Google’s free-listings guidance to interpret that status.

If you use Google for WooCommerce, its product feed also lists affected products, issues and suggested actions. Follow the extension’s guidance for your connection. A feed or approval problem and the indexing of a product URL are separate investigations.

Act on the problem you identified.

If a technical setting excludes the page, resolve that cause before rewriting the copy. If the page is indexed but the content poorly answers the customer’s question, clearer product information and relevant supporting content are useful next steps.

Use Daymerce to prepare that content with its product context beside it. After publication, check the relevant URL or search query again in Search Console. A search preview helps with presentation; it does not promise a Google position.

Good to know.

Does “hidden” in WooCommerce stop Google indexing a product?

Catalogue visibility determines where a product appears in your shop. A hidden product can still have a publicly accessible individual page. Check actual public access and Search Console indexing separately.

Will requesting indexing make my product appear straight away?

No. A request asks Google to recrawl an eligible URL. It does not guarantee inclusion, immediate appearance or a particular ranking, and repeating the request does not speed it up.
